Americans Have The Right To Keep And Bear Arms

Posted on: August 27, 2011

Under the second amendment to the US Constitution the law abiding citizens of the United States are granted the right to keep and bear arms. Once designed to regulate the military forces of the volunteer minutemen that fought in the Revolutionary War during Americas fight for independence from Great Britain, the right to bear arms now refers to the rights of the America people to keep firearms in their possession as a protection from any invading force.

Over the years activists opposed to private gun ownership by individuals have applied for legislation to rescind the Constitutional Amendment guaranteeing the public right to keep firearms. With some legislation passing about the types of guns that can be bought and owned by private individuals there has been little legislation that has prevented people from owning their own guns.

Many people enjoy hunting and spending time in the wilderness tracking their prey, through the use of hunting rifles, gun owners can take to the backcountry of the secluded forests and mountains to take a male animal with a proper hunting license and tag. For the hunting population the activists that are against firearms have little if anything to say. Their beef is with the ownership and use of semiautomatic rifles and handguns. While hunters use their weapons away from the streets and neighborhoods of the city, handguns and semiautomatic weapons present a threat to the common peace, through criminal and illegal acts of violence. Even though the majority of gun owners are stable, well-mannered, law-abiding citizens; there is an underlying threat that criminals can and do have access of firearms and commit violent acts because the law does not prohibit people from owning handguns and semiautomatic weapons.

While the debate is sometimes heated between the lobbyists to prohibit the private ownership of guns, and the population of gun owners that possess multiple firearms, the constitutional amendment has not be reversed and the American people retain their right to keep and bear arms.

With handguns being something that can be easily hidden, laws have been passed regarding the carrying of concealed weapons, however by taking a class and passing an exam anyone that has a handgun can be issued a concealed weapons permit. Of course in carrying a handgun with a concealed weapons permit, people do not just stick the barrel of a gun into their pants and walk around. The majority of gun owners care about keeping their weapons clean and ready to fire. By using a kydex holster to carry their gun they can conceal their weapon out of sight and safely transport their handguns with them wherever they go.

Kydex holsters are best way to carry a handgun because they are smooth and quiet in the release of the gun from the holster, yet are durable and tough for keeping a handgun protected. Unlike leather holsters, kydex holsters are made from acrylic polyvinyl chloride that holds it shape better than leather and will not wear out after years of use drawing and holstering a gun, like leather will. A preferred choice of the military and law enforcement officers kydex holsters allow a weapon to draw quickly with out making a sound as the metal of the gun slides out of the holster. The smooth movement and lack of traction from the holster also allows for a quick release of a police sidearm in a standoff, or when the officers life is threatened.

For private citizens the need for stealth may not be as necessary as it is for a law enforcement officer, but given the abuse that cell phones and other handheld devices endure it is vital to keep a firearm operating at its optimal level. Having a handgun wrapped in a kydex holster provides a durable and weather resistant protection for weapons that being carried or whenever an individual is storing the handgun.

Whether carrying a concealed weapon, taking a rifle out hunting or just collecting rare and exotic semiautomatic weapons, it is important to keep all firearms under lock and key and away from the curious eyes and hands of children. To protect the owner and everyone else the activists that are opposing the second amendment have been crucial to the passing of laws regulating gun safety and transportation. All weapons must be carried in the trunk of a vehicle away from the passengers and driver and must not be loaded during transport. Clips and bullets for all guns must be separated during transport. Taking things a step further, many owners have bags and cases to protect their weapons and keep them safe.

Additionally, any gun owner that wants to keep their weapon in ready-to-fire condition will spend time taking their guns apart to clean and lubricate them so that they are always ready-to-shoot. For those that take their firearms out hunting, many people will carry a side arm in addition to their hunting rifle. By using a kydex holster to house their handgun the hunters are protecting their side arm from anything that the elements can dish out.

For many Americans the right to bear arms is something that they will never give up. It is a fact that Americans love guns, and they have developed a liking for every type of firearm. From semiautomatic machine guns, to rare foreign rifles, to handguns, to hunting rifles and shotguns, the right to bear arms has come a long way from the original intent of the founding fathers to have a minuteman volunteer militia ready to serve the country in time of war. But, with their ancestry firmly entrenched in the traditions of owning and carrying firearms Americans are not ready to give up their valued collections of civilian and military weapons.

From time to time the administration has rallied to control the sale of firearms and regulate the types of guns that can and should be sold to the American public. With new laws regulating the expiration dates of ammunition so that stockpiles of munitions can be controlled, there is a new debate regarding the storage of munitions and weaponry, but lobbyists are not the only people that have strong opinions regarding firearm safety and availability. The Nation Rifle Association also has activists working to keep guns safely in the hands of the American public and ensuring that the second amendment to the constitution will forever guarantee the public right for American citizens to keep and bear arms.
